About BALLETS WITH A TWIST - Artistic Affiliate
Marilyn Klaus, Choreographer
With an eclectic background ranging from show dancing to Isadora Duncan to classical ballet, Marilyn Klaus has presented choreography in the United States and Europe to much critical acclaim. Dance Magazine called her work “wonderfully convoluted madcap pieces...operating on a dozen different levels at once.”
Her company Ballets with a Twist serves up ballet in a fresh and playful way that attracts a wider public. The group has recently performed at prestigious venues and festivals, including Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, HBO Stage at Bryant Park, the Tribeca Film Festival, and New York City’s hot new nightclub XL Cabaret.
Her original works feature scores and arrangements by composer and musical director Stephen Gaboury, who has collaborated with Klaus for over 20 years. Gaboury, whose music has been featured in film and on television, has also performed with legends Cyndi Lauper, Patti Labelle, and Suzanne Vega. Catherine Zehr is the creative force behind the unique costume design.
